China celebrates the National Spring Festival

Today is the 1st day of the Chinese New Year, based on the Lunar Calendar. The traditional holiday, also called Spring Festival, falls on 8th of February in 2016 according to the Gregorian Calendar. It is considered to be the major, national holiday for the Chinese population and its celebration spreads widely among the neighboring regions. During the Chinese New Year celebration, the great parade welcomes visitors with the national decorations in red, impressive fireworks display, troupes of acrobats, jugglers, marching bands, lively dragons and Chinese lions. 2016 is a year of Monkey and its images can be viewed on the houses, offices and streets decorations. Chinese people advise to put on the red clothes for celebrations to make this quick-witted and cunning animal happy.
